The story

The Captain Cook collection is certainly one of Rado's most emblematic. Named after the British explorer, it was first presented in 1962. Since its reissue in 2017, the collection has become a pillar of the brand. This year, it presents a reinterpretation of another 1950s model, the Over-Pole, in a limited edition.

Vintage with a modern twist

For this re-edition, Rado has adopted the name Captain Cook Over-Pole for its Worldtimer. More faithful to the original model, the Swiss brand preserves the vintage aspest while integrating modern technologies and design elements characteristic of the Captain Cook. This model comes in a 37mm all-steel case and features a bi-directional rotating bezel with a (slightly updated) laser-engraved city list for reading the world time. Water-resistant to 100 metres and equipped with a domed sapphire crystal, this model retains its vintage charm.

Mechanical movement

The case back reveals, through a sapphire crystal, the hand-wound Rado R862 calibre. It has a power reserve of 80 hours and is equipped with a Nivachron balance spring, which is insensitive to magnetism. Finally, the movement is elegantly decorated with Geneva stripes on the bridges and blue screws.
