Le style Evolution 9
In 2020, Grand Seiko introduced a new design philosophy called Evolution 9 Style. While it preserves the fundamental principles of Grand Seiko style, the design philosophy that has guided Grand Seiko since 1967, but adapts them for the new generation by setting new standards in legibility, aesthetics and comfort, while taking its already impressive designs and technology to new levels. The refinement of the Evolution 9 series includes the deployment of new materials to achieve more sophisticated and comfortable watches. Take for example the SBGE283's titanium case and bracelet, made from a lighter and brighter high intensity titanium.
A unique GMT watch!
With this SBGE283, the Japanese Manufacture finally brings a GMT with a sporty look to its Evolution 9 collection. The case and bracelet are made entirely of high-intensity titanium, making this model an incredibly comfortable and light watch. Measuring 41 mm in diameter and 13.9 mm thick, the case has been beautifully sculpted and features delicate polished and satin-finished surfaces offering points of contrast. The result is an exceptional play of light and shadow. Just look at the elegantly intricate crown guard, which is perfectly finished.
Water-resistant to 100 metres and equipped with a screw-down crown, this SBGE283 is an ideal travel companion and even an ideal watch for everyday wear. Its dial is deep black to be both versatile and also create perfect legibility with its oversized indexes and hands, standing out from this backdrop. The date window and power reserve at 9 o'clock adds a compelling dynamism to the balanced dial. Moreover, the readability is enhanced by the application of LumiBrite on the hands and hour markers.
Monochromatic, discreet and sporty elegance, this SBGE283 launches the Evolution 9 collection into a new era!
A Spring Drive calibre with exceptional precision
Inside this GMT Evolution 9, we find the calibre 9R66, a classic from the Manufacture. Its precision is rated at +/-15 seconds per month and offers a comfortable 72-hour power reserve. Like all Spring Drive watches, the seconds hand moves in a perfect gliding movement, a unique Spring Drive feature. Visible through a transparent case back, the calibre 9R66 is considered by watch enthusiasts to be a true GMT movement. Indeed, the local hour hand is independently adjustable. The advantage of this complication is that when arriving at a new location in a different time zone, the hour hand can be moved forward or backward to the appropriate time without any difficulty.
