The Chronomaster Open, a long history

In the mid-2000s, Manufacture Zenith launched a Chronomaster collection featuring a partially open dial revealing the beating heart of the legendary El Primero movement. It was an immediate success for this collection which illustrates the unique mastery of the high frequency chronograph movement by the Manufacture!

But in recent years, Zenith has spent a lot of time reworking all of its collections, ensuring that each of its watches can offer something different. And this year, 2022, marks the beginning of a new era for the El Primero Open collection! The brand unveils its new aesthetic, bridging the past and present of the most popular automatic chronograph of all time. This collection once again pushes the limits of precision, with a new generation of the El Primero calibre in a case with new dimensions.

What's new

The most important innovation here is a return to its roots. The new Chronomaster Open is inspired by the unique design language that the brand has established over 50 years. It is presented on a 39.5 mm case that is 13.1 mm thick and features the El Primero 3604 manufacture calibre, a reworked and skeletonised version of the 3600 movement found in the Sport and Original collections. The tricolour counters are inspired by the most emblematic references of the 1960s and 1970s, with a touch of modernity with a transparent counter for the running seconds. There is also a view of the 5Hz high-frequency regulator and the latest generation El Primero escapement, with a 1/10th of a second indicator on the flange.
