ZRC is a Swiss brand founded in 1904 by Edmund Zuccolo and Joseph Roche. At the beginning, it specialised in the manufacture of technical bracelets for watches. In 1917, the company won the Grand Prix for Innovation of the Geneva Industry at the New Industries competition for its metal stretch watchband. But its motto "When adventure gives life to a revolutionary product" led it to design and produce an exceptional product! Indeed, in 1960, the company began to develop its first watch, which quickly became famous! The ZRC Grands Fonds 300 metres. As its founders were real fans of underwater sports, it was logical to design a watch as extreme as its straps. A few years later, the ZRC diver's watch moved into another dimension. At the time, the French Navy was placing its own orders for diving watches with very strict specifications. During a national call for tenders, ZRC was chosen to supply watches. Its Grand Fond will equip the divers of the French Navy until 1982. It was even approved by NATO, confirming its resistance to any test! 50 years after the first Grands Fonds 300 watch, Georges & Charles Brunet, at the head of the family business (great-grandsons of Joseph Rochet), are studying the re-edition of the iconic model. Since then, the brand has continued to develop, offering diving watches made from the finest materials and assembled with meticulous attention to detail. Every component is designed and produced in Switzerland to the highest standards. ZRC watches are highly regarded by collectors and diving enthusiasts for the style, technicality and strong character of its pieces! These re-editions of this iconic Grand fond model are 100% faithful to the 60's model,
Reissue "Marine Nationale" 1964: The French Navy watch
In the early 1960's, ZRC launched the Grands Fonds 300, a wristwatch designed for divers, which was chosen by the French Navy to equip its divers between 1964 and 1982. Since 2015, ZRC has relaunched this iconic watch to the forefront of the watchmaking scene.
1964 Spirit: Revival of a mythical diver
The year 1964 is essential for ZRC, as it marks the approval of their Grands Fonds 300 watch by the French Navy. A tribute is paid to this mythical diver through this collection in deliberately retro tones: the 1964 Spirit.
GF 3000 Titanium : Extreme Diver
After the success of the Grands Fonds 300, ZRC had to develop a new case. Benefiting from all the brand's know-how, the Grands Fonds 3000 strikes hard! Grade II titanium case, ceramic bezel insert, curved 5mm sapphire crystal, armoured 4mm 316L steel caseback, rubber strap, single titanium buckle, nothing has been left to chance. The first watch to be resistant to a depth of 5,000 metres without the presence of a helium valve, the Grands Fonds 3000 represents the efficiency and simplicity so dear to the French brand. With a total thickness of 19.5mm, this "very deep" waterproof watch remains wearable on all occasions.
ZRC Grands Fonds 300 38 mm: A reissue closer to the original
Having disappeared from the radar since the 1980s, the mythical ZRC Grands Fonds 300 watch, presented in 1964 for the divers of the French Navy, has been making a comeback on the watchmaking scene since 2015. For 2022, the brand is presenting a timepiece even closer to the original, with a resolutely vintage look. Simpler and less technical than its big sisters, the ZRC GF300 in 38 mm is a pure reissue of the 1960s.
