The Zenith Pilot collection is a series of aviator's watches, created more than a hundred years ago. The Manufacture has an unrivalled watchmaking heritage in the world of aviation, as it is the only watchmaking company authorized to inscribe "PILOT" on its dials, a term it patented in 1904. The archetypal aviator's watch was created by the Manufacture du Locle in the early days of aviation and is still alive today in the PILOT line. Originally designed as a flight instrument, the pilot's watch has a robust round case with a large diameter, enhanced by an oversized onion-shaped crown for easy handling. To enhance legibility, the dial features large luminescent Arabic numerals and luminescent cathedral hands. Zenith's history with aviation is very important! It is even said that the French aviation pioneer Louis Blériot was wearing a Zenith when he was the first man to fly across the English Channel. There are two lines of watches in this collection.
For 2023, Zenith is completely reworking its PILOT collection. It is divided into two lines, with the first line offering models in steel or ceramic, with a dial featuring three hands. The second line is probably the most important: a flyback chronograph line with a large date. All the models in the PILOT collection are powered by a high-frequency automatic El Primero caliber.
Why do we love this collection? Because it gives us a taste of the freedom of taking a step up to discover a new point of view. With PILOT, the sky is the limit, and it invites you to reach for your star. Building on its unique heritage, ZENITH continues to perpetuate it with the latest generation of the PILOT collection. In a balance between heritage and modernism, ZENITH is moving away from vintage aesthetics to models inspired by aviation history, past and present. These have all the essential characteristics of durability, legibility and intuitive use, rethought in a more contemporary context.
