Founded in 1848, OMEGA is a watch brand synonymous with excellence, innovation and precision. The Swiss company has distinguished itself by its pioneering spirit, notably by setting out to conquer the oceans and space. Since 1965, the OMEGA Speedmaster has been selected to equip all of NASA's manned space missions, including the six lunar landings. It has accompanied the greatest adventurers in history on their missions off our planet. OMEGA's biggest fan is most certainly James Bond. Since 1995, the spy has never been without his Seamaster. One of OMEGA's most iconic partnerships in the world.
Reliability and innovation
The Manufacture of Bienne is known for proposing many revolutions in the world of mechanical watchmaking!
In 1999, it launched its first Co-Axial caliber, which has the first functional escapement developed for a mechanical watch in 250 years. Invented by George Daniels in 1974. It revolutionizes the basics of mechanical watchmaking. Simplified, more stable, more regular, it requires less maintenance because it minimizes contact surfaces and reduces friction. It requires less lubrication, which makes it more reliable than traditional movements. Miniaturized and industrialized, it now equips the vast majority of Omega movements!
The Omega brand also launched a new standard, the Master Chronometer certification in 2005! It ensures that the watch has been tested not once, but twice! The caliber passes 8 demanding METAS tests that the watch must overcome to earn the title of Master Chronometer only after a first certification of the movement by the COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres). And the testing process is completely transparent. To find out the exact results of the watch in the 8 METAS tests, simply enter its certificate number online. It guarantees better precision, anti-magnetism up to 15,000 gauss and perfect water resistance!
Omega and James Bond
James Bond, the world's most famous secret agent, has been a style icon for generations. Since the release of the GoldenEye movie in 1995, Agent 007 has worn an Omega watch. It was Oscar-winning costume designer Lindy Hemming who brought Omega and the MI6 agent together. She was convinced that Commander Bond, a quiet gentleman from the ranks of the British navy, was made to wear the Seamaster with a blue dial!
In the 2006 film Casino Royale, Daniel Craig wears the Seamaster Diver 300M and a Planet Ocean 600 M. For Quantom of Solace, 007 wears again the Planet Ocean 600M. These watches stand out for their exceptional resistance to shocks and pass with flying colors the ordeals suffered by Bond and his adversaries.
For the release of the film Skyfall in 2012, 007 is relying on the Planet Ocean 600M and a more worldly Aqua Terra, both powered by an OMEGA Co-Axial caliber. At that time, Omega celebrated its long association with the James Bond universe through coordinated special editions, such as the Seamaster Planet Ocean 600 M "Skyfall" Limited Edition, which evoked James Bond's daring adventures with a 007 at 7 o'clock.
In the movie Spectre, James Bond doesn't do things by halves as he wears two of them: the OMEGA Seamaster 300 SPECTRE Limited Edition with a black and grey NATO strap and a rare lollipop seconds hand, and the OMEGA Aqua Terra 150M, a beautiful watch with a blue dial which echoes OMEGA's maritime heritage and James Bond's career in the Navy.
But it was really with the release of the film Dying Can Wait that the relationship between Omega and the British agent was confirmed. For this film, Daniel Craig collaborated and created the Seamaster Diver 300M Edition 007 hand in hand with the teams of the Manufacture. A special model for the most devoted James Bond fans!
Very special limited editions with unique features that pay tribute to the legacy of Agent 007 and his 50 years of spying on the silver screen.
Omega and the Olympic Games
Since 1932, Omega has been the Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games on 30 occasions. This collaboration has proven to be fruitful for the company, which has retained this title ever since, with a few rare exceptions!
The brand has the honor of timing the events of the Paralympic Games and the Youth Olympic Games.
At the beginning of this partnership, during the Los Angeles 1932 Olympic Games, only one Swiss watchmaker presented 30 split-seconds chronographs. Today, a whole team of professional timekeepers travels with 450 tons of equipment. But the objective remains the same: to provide the world's best athletes with impeccable timekeeping.
For each Olympiad, Omega offers limited editions based on the brand's various models: Aqua Terra, Speedmaster, Seamaster and Seamaster Planet Ocean are often the models selected for these very special editions. They are all highly coveted by collectors and fans of the manufacture.
Collection Seamaster
Omega's Seamaster collection of watches is a testament to the Swiss Manufacture's watchmaking excellence. Each model is distinguished by its sleek design and outstanding sporting performance. This collection offers models with a common feature of good water resistance. The Diver is one of the most renowned diving watches in the industry and presents a range with a very different look!
The Seamaster collection has evolved over time, offering us a wide selection of models that have given birth to real sub-collections that perpetuate the dynasty. From the incredible Ultra Deep to the iconic Diver 300M, from the sporty-chic Aqua Terra 150M to the indefatigable Ploprof, you are bound to find the model that suits you among this list of names that alone evoke the great diversity of models in the range.
Collection Constellation
The watches in the Constellation collection cultivate sobriety and elegance and bear witness to Omega's expertise. Quickly identifiable by their singular design, they constitute a classic and resolutely timeless accessory.
The Constellation line was conceived in 1948 to celebrate the brand's 100th anniversary. Initially, it was not named "Constellation" and was originally a limited production: the Centenary Chronometer. It was in such demand that Omega decided to offer it as a production model. With such a high production, Omega then decided to create a collection of automatic watches all certified chronometers in 1952, which would become the Constellation as we know it today. Its success is such that it has never stopped being produced since. Only its design has evolved over time. In 1959, Omega asked Gerald Genta to review, refresh and renew its Constellation range, which was then its flagship collection. It is thanks to the redesign of this collection that Omega ensured its place on the throne of high-end watches for almost a decade. It is from the design of this piece that Gerald Genta began to be perceived as a "designer of stars". And it is thanks to him that we owe the famous "Pie-Pan" dial. It has long been considered the flagship model of Omega because it is a true chronometer.
Within the Constellation collection, there are two main ranges: Globemaster and Constellation. Both of them share a common characteristic of exceptional precision, paying tribute to the history of the brand. Indeed, Omega has participated on many occasions in the chronometry competitions of the Geneva Observatory. These timepieces very quickly broke precision records. To pay tribute to this era, each Constellation watch features a star on its dial at six o'clock and a representation of the Observatory on the case back.
Collection De Ville
The De Ville collection from the Swiss manufacturer Omega is composed of classic and elegant watches for men and women. It is one of the company's most popular lines for its selection and offering of contemporary prestige timepieces. The De Ville collection is inspired by the very first Omega Seamaster De Ville produced in the 1960s and the series launched in 1967. With this line, Omega embarked on an entirely new philosophy based on elegance and tradition. Today, the De Ville collection is both a symbol of progress and timelessness, and has quickly become a classic in the watchmaking world. The range includes a variety of models from three-hand watches to watches with complications. The women's watches are set with diamonds. Because of their classic design features, most of the timepieces in the De Ville collection are suitable for formal events. They are perfect for wearing to the office, a wedding, or entertaining, among other occasions. Of course, the models are powered by quartz calibers or Co-Axial automatic movements, most of which are certified Master Chronometer by METAS. Ladymatic, Prestige and Tresor are the main lines offered within the De Ville range.
