Robust and generous

TUDOR offers a highly functional complication, also known as GMT, within the Black Bay collection, this model with multiple time zones, which allows you to situate yourself in local time without losing sight of what time it is in two other time zones. Recognizable by its rotating bezel, which borrows its deep blue and burgundy colors from other models in the line, albeit in a matte finish, the Black Bay GMT is also a nod to the early days of this watchmaking function.

Additional time zones are indicated by TUDOR's signature “snowflake” red hand, which circles the dial in 24 hours, and a bidirectional rotating bezel, also graduated in 24 hours. The twelve hours of the day are printed on the burgundy section, the night hours on the blue section.

Dressed in a 41 mm-diameter steel case, the Black Bay GMT model is water-resistant to 200 meters and designed to take on the elements. Its crown tube is in satin-finish steel - a novelty in the Black Bay line - in aesthetic continuity with the case and crown. The contrasting black dial guarantees legibility in all conditions, thanks to luminescent hour markers at each hour. A GMT indication appears on the dial at 6 o'clock. This generous harmony extends to the shape of its domed sapphire crystal, giving it a vintage retro touch.

A rivet bracelet

The bracelet of this Black Bay GMT model is inspired by the folded rivet bracelets of TUDOR watches made in the 50s and 60s. Their distinctive features were the visible rivet heads on the edge of the bracelet, as well as a “staircase leak”. These two aesthetic details are incorporated into the bracelet of the Black Bay GMT model, which benefits from a modern construction with solid links.

Movement and functions

This Black Bay GMT is powered by a manufacture caliber, bearing the reference MT5652, developed by TUDOR. This movement has the appearance and finish typical of TUDOR manufacture calibers. Its openworked rotor is satin-finished with sandblasted details, while its bridges and mainplate feature alternating sandblasted and polished surfaces and laser decoration. Its construction is designed for sturdiness, longevity and reliability, as is the case with its variable-inertia balance maintained by a solid double-anchored through-bridge. Coupled with a non-magnetic silicon balance-spring, they enable the MT5652 caliber to be chronometer-certified by the COSC. Finally, its “weekend-proof” power reserve is 70 hours, allowing the wearer to put the watch down on Friday evening and pick it up again on Monday morning without having to wind it.
