For the record

The Vargas is the third largest diamond ever discovered. It was found in Brazil in 1938, and weighed 726.6 carats in its rough form. It was bought by the famous diamond dealer Harry Winston, who extracted many diamonds of various sizes from it. The largest of the stones extracted was named "President Vargas", in honor of the Brazilian president, and weighed over 45 carats!
