The noble history of the navette-cut, or marquise-cut, diamond is directly linked to French History and King Louis XV. Indeed, the monarch asked his jewellers to create this very special shape as a tribute to the gentle smile of his lover, the Marquise de Pompadour. Even today, this diamond shape is recognised as one of the most feminine and elegant cuts!
